Uniforms (Jersey, Shirt & Shorts)
All players will be issued a uniform at the start of the season.The jersey is a reversible tank type shirt,and is returned at the end of the season. Other pieces kept by the player include: lacrosse shorts and a shooter shirt. Lacrosse shorts are elastic waist above the knee shorts. A shooter shirt is short sleeved tee which extends below the jersey. Optional pieces include lacrosse socks, which are knee or mid shin height with thick knit tops and cleats.
What are the rules for Youth Lacrosse?
We follow all US Lacrosse rules and modifications approved by Youth Lacrosse Minnesota (YLM). The US Lacrosse rules can be found on their website. The rule modifications for the YLM can be found on their website. YLM also provides some videos regarding specific rules here.
What type of contact is allowed and how physical is Lacrosse?
Lacrosse is a very active sport and there is some incidental contact, however checking is not allowed in Youth Lacrosse. Lacrosse players are allowed to make contact with another players stick but not with the players themselves. All and head and neck contact is an automatic foul. 12U and 14U games are more physical than the younger groups. Because of the additional physical contact, EMTs are provided for all 12U and 14U games. For additional safety information please visit the US Lacrosse website.
